Additional Information Produced by William Faden during his role as Geographer to the King, this detailed depiction of the iconic Irish City of Dublin bears a distinctive style and classic aesthetic that immediately transports the viewer back in time, creating an indelible bond between the past and present. Faden published the most thorough North American Atlas in 1777 and was a prominent English cartographer known for his accuracy and ornate flourishes. He also produced the popular periodical, the Daily Register in London during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. His North American Atlas chronicled the most significant battles of the American Revolution during the conflict, which would not conclude until 1791. As Ireland's largest city and capital, Dublin sits at the mouth of the River Liffey in the country's east and is regarded for its classic architecture, rich history, and unique culture. By the turn of the eighteenth century, Dublin was flourishing as a cultural, economic, and educational hub and was the second-largest city in the British Empire by 1800. The city would continue to grow and expand throughout the eighteenth century and produced some of its most famous buildings during this time. This is truly an authentic piece of Irish cartographical history produced by one of its most prolific mapmakers. As Dublin grew and became a cosmopolitan center, Ireland was brought into Great Britain in 1800 under the Acts of Union. Though Ireland would not see the same developments as the rest of Great Britain during the industrial revolution, its contributions were primarily cultural. Our museum quality giclee print comes printed with archival ink on premium heavyweight matte paper. Shipped in a sturdy cardboard tube your print will arrive ready to be framed. This eye-catching vintage map reproduction print makes the perfect gift for anyone that loves history and imagery.
