Thomas Kitchin (or Kitchen) (1718–1784) was an English engraver and cartographer. He was born in Southwark, and was apprenticed to Emmanuel Bowen in 1732, with whom he collaborated for 30 years. He was appointed Hydrographer to the King in 1773. His large and varied output has been attributed to his willingness to copy the maps of other cartographers. He worked for a number of publishers including Dalrymple, Dunn, Luttrell, Mackenzie & Wildey.PROVENANCE: This map was published in "Historical descriptions of...England and Wales." by Henry Boswell.
