Included are accounts of naval battles, voyages of discovery to Africa, Asia and America (John and Sebastian Cabot, Frobisher to the arctic, Sir Francis Drake, Sir Humphrey Gilbert to Newfoundland), and account of the British colonies in America (Virginia, Nevis, Maryland). Sir Graham Eden Hamond (17791862), respected naval officer notable for his commands during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Following a distinguished career, including a period serving as Commanderin Chief, South American Station, Hamond attained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet.
