Description: From the private collection of a doll collector. This beautiful antique French fashion doll is from the manufacturer Francois Gaultier (marked on the shoulder). The doll has a bisque head with pierced ears and shoulder plate with a leather body. She has pale blue glass eyes and a human hair wig and cork pate. Her wonderful costume consists of a dress made with silk taffeta fabric with ruffles and pleating on the skirt. There is also fine patterned silk fabric at the apron portion in the front and a large silk bow in the back. The dress has fine cotton lace trimming on the neckline. The hat is made with velvet, lace, flowers, a feather, and fine netting sashes. She has two slips, pantaloons, and black silk shoes with jet beading embellishments. I was not able to remove the clothing as the patterned silk is very fragile. The doll is 12" tall. Condition: I found no damage to the head or body. The fine patterned silk has melted (as shown in the photos), and needs to be replaced. From a smoke free environment.
