For my store page, click here You are bidding on a genuine CACTUS PETE'S casino $1 (one dollar) gaming/slot token (1968 Franklin Mint "Proof" version, obsolete token. **Token appears dark grey/black but actually has a chrome mirror finish in person**) from Jackpot, Nevada. This token measures 37 mm diameter (standard $1 slot size from 1965-2000s), heavier at 0.9 oz vs. the standard 0.7 oz and made from a solid Franklinium II (nickel-silver alloy mixture). "Proof-like" tokens are limited edition versions made by the Franklin Mint for collectors. They are typically identical in design to the regular strike version, except they have a highly polished/reflective finish, uncirculated, and are excellent for collecting. "Full Proof" tokens were originally specially made for casino presentation, they are even more limited than "Proof-like" versions and have even higher detail/embossing with a more frosted finish on the edges (likely struck with a different die). Around 2000-2500 proof-like sets and 500 full proof sets were produced each year from 1965-1969. Today, the number of existing uncirculated condition proofs or proof-likes are likely a fraction of that. Very few, if any casinos use metal casino tokens in slot machines anymore due to electronic ticketing introduced during the early 2000s. The majority of casino tokens were destroyed by their respective properties and the limited amount of existing (especially well-preserved) ones kept by customers will continue to climb in value as the years go on. Because they are rare, casino slot tokens make for excellent gifts/souvenirs and collector's pieces! Get them before they are gone forever!
